Alena participated in (Cyber)PiraMMMida, a transdisciplinary and transmedia project, with three new art piecesStraw Man, Double-edged and Incriminating Evidence that all use the pyramid as a shape and concept to reflect on the nature of informal power. The project that brings together artists, architects, scholars and activists was curated by Denis Maksimov, Masha Mileeva, Michał Murawski and David Roberts, conceived by the PPV collective, co-realised by the Avenir Institute and co-funded by the FRINGE Centre and the UCL European Institute, among others.

Alena has given a virtual keynote lecture entitled Silence of Systems: Invisible Domination or Motivational Ambivalence at the workshop organised by the Laboratory for Studies in Economic Sociology at the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” (NRU HSE). The workshop on The Varieties of Power in the Economy took place from 3–4 July 2020. A recording of the talk is available.

Alena has given a talk on Global Corruption versus National Isolationism at the University of Stanford, Global Studies Division. The talk addressed the multiple challenges that corruption presents to governments, businesses, academics, and the public and the EU policy's shift away from perception-based measurement methodologies and top-down policy design and toward approaches integrating complexity, big data, and context-sensitive policy advice.

The patterns of informal power acquired a non-textual mode in Alena's art displayed at the Palace of Ritual exhibition on the fringes of the 58th Venice Biennale. Three art pieces – Inner Circle, Scapegoat and Suspended Punishment – supported the dissemination of the Encyclopaedia. The exhibition was organised by Arts Territory, together with Avenir Institute, co-funded by the FRINGE Centre and co-curated by FRINGEr Michał Murawski.
