To purchase access to the game, please follow the link Your role in the game You are the CEO of a Russia. You run a 50:50 joint venture, in which the global company you had worked for the last 10 years, has acquired its stake just 6 months ago. You have an initial contract for 3 years, but according to the shareholders’ agreement you had to resign form your mother company and now the JV is your only employer. The competition The board game offers you real life situations. These include: • ‘cases’ that require your strategic thinking and a multiple choice decision (neutral colour); • ‘matters arising’ that are associated with problematic situations: red tape, yellow press, greenmail, grey areas (corresponding colours); • ‘pure chance’ situations that comes out of the blue (blue colour); • ‘lessons learned’ (neutral colour). You will be competing against other players who find themselves in the similar situations. Like in the most board games, players will take turns to move their markers from square to square around the board. On your turn you will roll the dice to move you to the next situation. Each situation you handle will result in loss or profit, as well as speeds you up or slows you down. Each time a player completes a circle and passes the START point, s/he collects 10M. Each player has an initial capital of 10M. The winner is determined by the amount of money earned. Colour codes and numbers of cards available:

Red tape cards: • Federal government – deep purple ( 5 cards) • Regional government – crimson red (3 cards) • Regulators and controlling bodies – pink floyd (4 cards) Grey areas cards: • Market – dark grey (10 cards) • Conflict of interest – grey (9 cards) Greenmail cards: • People – green (12 cards) • Governance – dark green (6 cards) Yellow press cards: • PR – yellow (5 cards) • Networking – orange (4 cards) Pure chance cards – blue (10 cards) Lesson learned cards – neutral colour (14 cards) Case cards – neutral colour (16 cards) Case outcomes cards – neutral colour, matching numbers (16 cards)

The rules 1) Arrange cards according to their color as shown on the field. 2) Nominate people for the roles: one of the players should be selected a banker and be in charge of payments. One of the players will be passing over the cards. Remaining players will provide checks and balances on whether instructions on the cards are carried on adequately by the player taking the turn. 3) Receive 10M at the Start. 4) Throw dice twice and determine the order of players. Maximum dice count qualifies you to choose your turn. 5) First player throws the dice and moves the marker ahead. A corresponding card (colour+category) will be passed over. 6) The player reads out the card. The player will move the marker and receive/pay money according to the prescription in the card from the banker. For example: There are two players Daria and Michael. Daria starts. She rolls the dice, gets 1 and moves her marker to the sector «Lesson learned». She takes a top card and reads out the prescription: “You mentioned to the head of your marketing department, whose wife is a daughter of the Kazakhstan’s minister of natural resources that you cannot get clearance to participate in a tender for a new license there. In two weeks you hear that your company is included into a tender. You learn the power of administrative resource. Move forward 2 steps”. According to the instruction, she moves her marker 2 steps forward and comes to the sector «case». Now it’s Michael’s turn to roll the dice. 7) The player returns the card to be placed back into the pile. ‘Cases’ make the most difference in the game. If you landed on a ‘case’ prepare to solve a business-case, written on the card and choose from the four prompted solution. Once you’ve made your choice, other players open the twin-card of the case that would assess your decision in terms of profit and progress, read out other outcomes and offer their feedback to your decision. 8) The end of each round is also the end of a year. Receive another 10M from the bank. Or pay interest on your bank loans. The game will be over after 3 rounds (first past the post). 9) If a player doesn’t have enough money to make payments, s/he can borrow from the Bank. This debt can be returned at any moment in the game, but it will increase by 20% after the completion of a round, had it not been paid within the same year/round! At the end of the game, all loans should be returned. The failure to do so means bankruptcy and defeat.
